Missions
“We are sent into the world, like Jesus, to serve. For this is the natural expression of our love for our neighbors. We love. We go. We serve." ---John Stott
At The Village Chapel we realize the Christian church does not exist merely for itself. We exist first and foremost to glorify God and then second, to become the arms of Jesus reaching out to a broken and hurting world. This outreach mission requires two things: words and deeds. The words of the Christian mission proclaim the good news of God's grace offered in Christ Jesus. The deeds of the Christian mission involve reaching out in love, to help the helpless, to bring comfort to the grieving, to bring justice to the oppressed, and relief to the poor.
To that end, below you will find links that will lead you to the websites of the various ministries and organizations that we support financially with the tithes and offerings entrusted to us here at The Village Chapel. There are a wide range of ministries that focus on the important works of evangelism, justice, and mercy. Just click on the bold blue name of each organization to visit their individual websites.
Guatemala Trip 2007
Since missions isn't only about writing checks, we recently took 26 people to Patzicia, Guatemala to visit over 40 children sponsored by individuals in our church through Compassion International. This trip had a profound impact on many of us and we are excited about the developing relationship we can have with our brothers and sisters in Christ there in Guatemala. The Guatemala slide shows are now on YouTube. Thanks to TVC's Gregory Byerline for his skillful slideshow assembly, and to TVC's Judson Spence and Kenny Alphin for the use of their incredible music. The Next Door
When a woman walks out of prison, she needs a safe and secure environment in which to live, and she needs encouragement from people who want to see her develop a life of wholeness and hope.
THE NEXT DOOR, located at The Downtown Ministry Center, is a program of transitional living, mentoring, and life skills classes designed to assist women in need with their physical, spiritual, emotional, and daily living needs. Statistics show that approximately 60 per cent of women ex-offenders in Middle Tennessee will return to prison within the first year of their release. The mission of THE NEXT DOOR is to break that cycle.
This is another of the local organizations The Village Chapel supports financially. The purpose of the Faith Family Medical Clinic is to provide the low-income residents of Nashville that do not have health insurance with affordable, quality primary medical care. The Clinic seeks to bring these Nashville residents a quality of healthcare that is enjoyed by the more affluent members of the Nashville community that have health insurance or can afford to pay the high costs of today's medical care.
Local experts have estimated that as many as 50,000 Nashville residents do not have health insurance and can not afford to pay the high cost of medical care. They are hard working, contributing members of our community, but they do not get timely medical treatment because they do not have insurance. Their medical conditions often go untreated to the point that they end up in a hospital emergency room with a significantly more severe condition. They suffer with compromised personal health, they miss time from work, and the health care system ends up paying for more expensive care than would have been necessary at the onset of the medical problem. Everyone loses under our current system.
The Faith Family Medical Clinic seeks to become the family physician for these Nashville area residents. If you or someone you know can benefit from these kinds of services, click on the link or contact them at: Phone 615-341-0808. The clinic is located at: 326 21st Avenue North in Nashville.

Staff members, under the direction of founder and president Nancy Alcorn, are specialists in their fields, such as counseling, education and social services. Above all, they are committed to helping each girl restore hope and stability to her life.
Girls between the ages of 13 and 28 are admitted with such life-controlling problems as drug and alcohol abuse, unplanned pregnancies, suicidal tendencies, eating disorders, fear, depression, physical and sexual abuse, self-harm (mutilation), sexual addictions and so forth.
African Leadership
African Leadership is a locally based outreach to a variety of missions in Africa. Barrett Ward, a TVC regular, is on staff at African Leadership and gives us the unique privilege of first hand connection with this vital work in Africa. Through this ministry we are providing funds for the building of about a dozen huts for young women rescued from the sex slave trade. Each hut will house one young woman and her children. There are approx. 480 women waiting for huts at present. African Leadership is also working hard to bring much needed relief to areas like Darfur/Sudan and northern Uganda.

Blood:Water Mission/1,000 Wells Project
Did you know that millions of Africans lack access to clean water? Did you know that people living with HIV/AIDS are dependent on clean water to survive? Did you know that $1 provides one year of clean water for an African? Did you know that YOU can help save lives?
The 1000 Wells Project is building 1000 wells in 1000 African communities. Businesses, churches, schools, artists and individuals are collecting funds so they can sponsor the construction of wells in Africa. In the process, they are learning about how HIV/AIDS affects African communities, and what it means to partner humbly with communities to pursue transformation.
International Justice Mission
International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery, and oppression. When the poor are hungry, homeless or alienated, the Church has come to their aid by providing food, shelter and missionaries to meet the pressing needs. But when the poor have been oppressed, treated unjustly and suffered under the hand of someone more powerful, little was done on their behalf. Accordingly, IJM was established to help fill this void, acting as an organization that stands in the gap for victims when they are left without an advocate.
